Appalling food

June 30, 2022
I was here for over a month and the food was appalling. Portion sizes far too small for an adult male and quality was no good either.

Bed was too high

June 27, 2022
The bed was too high for me to get onto by myself. I have a learning disability & want to do what I can myself but I needed help as it was too high. & I didn't feel safe getting on it.

Waiting a year for a fast-track appointment

June 27, 2022
I was referred by my GP for fast track to check three moles, and even though my GP has chased it up I haven't been seen by the hospital yet.
It should have been a 14 day turnaround as it's a high concern, and I just need an all clear
I've had no communication from the hospital at Leeds at all.
There should be better systems, why couldn't I have been sent to another hospital that could have fitted me in sooner?

Ok but could be better

June 23, 2022
Staff are really nice and look after me even though I have been in a number of times with my mental health problem, never make me feel like I'm wasting their time.
Wait times can be really really long but they looked after me and gave me a bed to sleep on while I waited to be seen.

On the day of my ancle operation, I was so scared to be put to sleep, every single 1 of the staff were so nice and happy and couldn't do enough for you. My operation went well and it was all good, not much waiting about as I was terrified. I can't thank the staff enough and I was so happy when I was awake and breathing again, got a bit emotional, but again the staff were brilliant.
Thanku so much!

Had to wait

Phelobotomy
May 9, 2022
I have a learning disability and physical disability and it was difficult to know where I had to go and find my way.
There is lots of information and signs but it was confusing for me without a carer.
I was not spoken to but my carer was. I would like to be spoken to.
I had to have a blood test which was quick.
I had to have a scan which took a long time.

MRI scan

Outpatients
March 22, 2022
I visited the mobile MRI unit for a brain scan. The staff were very patient and supportive as I suffer from Claustrophobia and was very worried about the procedure. The scan was very efficient and the larger machine mean't that this was not a difficult experience. Thank you to the excellent staff in the MRI unit for their patience.

Unsafe treatment following likely TIA

Accident and emergency services
March 16, 2022
I was placed unsupervised or supported in A&E wait area following a suspected TIA on Saturday afternoon - for over 3 hrs. I arrived via ambulance at around 15.15 and was told to alert the reception staff if I felt unwell. Given the nature of my problem this was not medically safe. I was then not seen by the Stroke team until it was too late to be given the clot busting treatment recommended - despite arriving at hospital in time for this to happen.
I was asked to move numerous times due to a lack of beds, chairs, etc - but there were insufficient staff to support me and I was left to wander between x-ray and a&E with no support.
A nurse attempted to send me home with a cannula still attached to my arm until alerted her to this fact. I was then told I could leave by the nurse again, with no information about safety or future appointments - I was waiting alone outside when another doctor and nurse located me and asked me to remain until they had the results from my tests.
The general atmosphere in A & E was one of panic, with doctors and nurses shouting at each other, police loosing people, elderly patients left without support to toilet or drink. I was told I had covid despite not having had a covid test, it turned out they had the wrong patient. While it was clear that the stroke nurse and attending consultant were doing their best in very challenging circumstances, I did not feel safe and feel lucky that I did not suffer a repeat TIA or worse as I am not sure anyone would have noticed for some time.
