Is volunteering for me?

Have you always fancied getting involved in volunteering but didn’t know where to start? Worried you can’t commit to a weekly set day each week?

Well, guess what here at Healthwatch Calderdale we have flexible volunteering roles to suit all. If you have an interest in making a difference in your community by listening to people to find out if health and care services are working for them, then come and join us.

Our volunteers play a vital role in helping people to have a voice by listening to their experiences.

What sort of things might I do as a volunteer?

There’s a lot to get involved in here at Healthwatch Calderdale, l

ike supporting our staff at our outreach sessions by listening to people’s experiences of health and social care. You may be interested in helping us to visit services to make sure they are providing people with the right service and support, or maybe gather health and social care feedback online. Perhaps you would like to help by gathering feedback from your own family and friends or raise awareness of the work we do at events, or proof checking and reading reports. Maybe representing us at hospital trust meetings, or to help the staff team to design, analyse and complete engagement surveys for the general public is your thing.

These are some of the many things you might help us with. Give us a call to discuss what your interest might be. Most of all, come on join us and be part of a happy vibrant team that wants to improve services for all.

Roles include:

  • Enter and View Volunteer (closing date for recruitment 2nd March 2023)

Healthwatch Calderdale have a legal right to carry out Enter & View visits to any publicly funded health or social care service.  This includes residential/nursing homes, day care services, GP practices and hospital wards.

We recruit and train Authorised Representatives (Enter and View volunteers) who will carry out the Enter and View visits with staff on behalf of Healthwatch Calderdale.  The Authorised Representatives spend time talking to people who use and work in the service they are visiting, then write a report with recommendations where required.  Authorised Representatives are fully supported by staff from the Healthwatch Calderdale team.
