Sisters United have their say with Healthwatch Calderale

October 3, 2019

Healthwatch Calderdale visited the Sisters United project in Halifax to find out more about their views on health and care services.

The group, which unites women to provide mutual support, build community links and empower and enhance their wellbeing, shared their views on Healthwatch Calderdale’s work with Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.

The hospital trust is looking at the use of telephone and video in Outpatient appointments and we will be sharing the Sisters United feedback with the hospital trust.

The women also spoke to us about:

  • Access to interpreters during medical appointments.
  • Dentistry: not only getting an appointment but inappropriate work being done due to translation issues.
  • Eye problems for children.
  • Issues with asylum seekers obtaining medication and prescriptions.

Healthwatch Calderdale will be looking into some of the issues they raised and responding to the Sisters United.

You can find out more about Sisters United by looking at their Twitter page or their Facebook page.

You still have time to have a say in the use of telephone and video appointments at Calderdale and Huddersfield Outpatients Clinics – click here before Friday 11 October to comment.
