Unable to get medication review

June 14, 2023
I have been trying for nearly a year to get an appointment for HRT. I’m repeatedly told I have to either wait for weeks for the HRT clinic or given an appointment time I’m unable to attend. I finally received a telephone appointment that I did not know I was getting and managed to get some HRT with being told I needed to come back in about 8 weeks for a review. It is now 4 months later and still can’t get an appointment and receptionists are blasé about it. So now I’m going through double my medication and have now run out.

Inability to get a GP consultation.

March 29, 2023
Having had an anual review and blood tests I received a text message from Doctor O'leary to contact the surgery to make an appointment to discuss some irregularities with the tests.
I contacted the surgery on the 16th of March requesting a call back from a GP only to be told that the earliest call back would be the 21st of April. 5 weeks later !!.
When I protested at the length of time I was bluntly told that this was the earliest.
I know of many people who have had exactly the same problems of getting appointments within 3 or 4 weeks, even after A&E visits and being told they must see their GP quickly.
Getting past reception with this surgeries reception is an absolute nightmare.

They simply don't care

February 1, 2023
The Pharmacist suggested my daughter needed to see a GP about her health, so we did, that took 12 weeks, then the GP said minor surgery was needed. Said there was a 15 week wating list. - Ok. After 21 weeks on the list we got a call saying they were removing my daughter from the list and we have been advised to self treat using over the counter medication. The Dr making the decision has not seen my daughter and is unwilling to do so. Visited the pharmacist who immediately said the GP needs to treat. The Dr has refused to see my daughter, These Dr's don't care. They just want to cut the waiting list. They are a disgrace to their profession.

Little empathy from GP/desk staff

October 20, 2022
Never see the same GP. Would be good if they read your notes before. No follow up to see if the problem has gone.
Secondly problem with repeat prescription, website not working at my end, the receptionist could not accept I was not at fault, needs man management training, rude

Great care, not so good admin team

October 11, 2022
The quality of the care from the doctors and nurses here has always been great but on more than one occasion, the admin team have been rude to me and just not helpful.
On one occasion I was trying to book an appointment and the receptionist was questioning me which I understand they have to do, but it was as though she thought I didn't really need the appointment at all. When I mentioned that I had discussed the issue with NHS 111 service she told me 'go and call them for advice then' and hung up the phone abruptly.

Can't get through

June 23, 2022
I call and call but the phone always puts me on hold for such a long time. I don't have time to wait. The phone message on the phone is really confusing for me as I have a learning difficulty and it makes me anxious. There should be more people on the phones to pick up calls quicker.

Staff are helpful

May 23, 2022
Reception staff are helpful when I go in . They know I have a learning disability and that I need some support.
The doctor is kind and talks to me when I have a support worker.
I have seen the nurse for a health check and they told me about some physical activities I can go to which will help me lose weight.

It's getting worse

October 19, 2021
When you're on regular medication for cardiac problems, that medication is extremely important. Bankfield has big problems, it's been getting gradually worse for a couple of years but it's now a point where it's not possible to reliably get repeat prescriptions.
We are not talking about the occasional mistake. Were talking about a service which has passed breaking point and is no longer functional. Requests for repeat prescriptions are now routinely ignored. Electronic request vanish into the ether, telephones are not answered and personal visits to try and resolve end with "If you're unhappy with the service here you can register at a different GP surgery!" but no effort is made to actually get the prescriptions for you. Bankfield have a complaint policy but they openly ignore it and refuse to accept complaints.
