Update on Right Care Right Time Right Place proposed changes to local hospitals and community services

As you may be aware, the Governing bodies of NHS Calderdale CCG and NHS Greater Huddersfield CCG met in parallel, in public on 20 October 2016, to consider individually if the findings from the consultation that closed on 21 June and subsequent deliberation provided sufficient grounds to proceed to the next stage.

At yesterday’s meeting, both Governing Bodies agreed to proceed to explore implementation in the Full Business Case, in relation to the proposal upon which they have consulted regarding future arrangements for hospital and community services in Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield. The Full Business Case would be considered by key
stakeholders, prior to implementation.
They also agreed, based on the decision made above, to respond formally to the Calderdale and Kirklees JHOSC in relation to their recommendations and NHS England in relation to their Assurance Process. A number of reports and responses to the consultation were considered to support the decision-making process, including the Independent Report of Findings; feedback from a stakeholder event held on 13 September; the Equality and Health Inequality Impact Assessment and formal responses from Healthwatch and Calderdale and Kirklees Joint Health Scrutiny Committee.
The CCGs and their Governing Bodies would like to thank everyone who has taken part and helped provide a wealth of information as well as bringing to light the enormous passion that the people of Calderdale and Huddersfield have for hospital and community health services.
Dr Steve Ollerton, GP and Chair of Greater Huddersfield CCG said, ‘On behalf of the Governing Bodies and the CCGs, we would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the Right Care, Right Time, Right Place public consultation. ‘This has not been an easy process – but it has been necessary. We value the significant wealth of feedback that we have received. ‘As Governing Bodies, we have a duty to ensure the best quality care and health outcomes for the people of Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield and our priorities are to improve the quality and safety of hospital services, bring them in line with national care standards and make them sustainable, in terms of money and staffing, into the future.’
Dr Alan Brook, GP and Chair of Calderdale CCG said, ‘We are facing significant challenges and we believe that these proposals would bring about the greatest overall benefits. ‘However, this next stage is an important step where we will be developing the detail and exploring how we take forward and look to implement the proposed changes as well as address concerns raised such as travel and transport. ‘As part of this we will continue to work closely with our partners and key stakeholders to support us in developing the full business case’.
