Health and wellbeing mean different things to different people, we spoke to one resident who helped bust some myths about men’s health. Here we ask the following myth-busting questions.

Click the boxes below to hear each answer:

image with text saying "myth: men don't like asking for help around their health"          text saying "myth: men don't like to visit the GP with a health issue"          text saying "myth: it's not ok for men to cry and share their feelings"

More general chat around men’s health

text saying "would you talk to friends and family about your mental health?"          Text saying "How could health services help improve men's health?"

Better health for yourself and others

There is currently a growing emphasis on self-care and self-management of health. We would like to ask males how you manage your health and wellbeing, how confident are you doing this and what barriers you face when it comes to improving and maintaining your health and wellbeing.

Above, is myth-busting with the help of one man. We want to get the big picture and would love to hear more views from men in Calderdale and Kirklees. Please email info@healthwatchcalderdale.co.uk if you would like to be involved in our project, and we will contact you for more information.  Or let us know what’s working for you and what isn’t and what you think could be done better in our latest survey. We make sure NHS and social care managers hear you and use your feedback to improve care for everyone.
